Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade PS5 Is Getting Free Update On Jan. 22 To Add Streamlined Progression Features

Square Enix has announced the Streamlined Progression features includedin the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will be added to the PS5 and PC editions of the game.

Streamlined Progression allows players to max out their characters’ HP and MP and has your attacks dish out 9,999 damage to each foe, which basically means you are all but impossible to kill and can finish off enemies in quick fashion. You also have the maximum number of every item available to you.

These features are coming to the PS5 and PC versions of Final Fantasy VII Remake in a free update on January 22, 2026, the same date that the Switch 2 and Xbox editions will be released.

Final Fantasy VII Remake was originally released for the PS4 in Spring 2020, with FFVII Remake Intergrade coming to PS5 the following year with enhanced performance, visuals, and the Yuffie-centric Episode INTERmission DLC.

The remake itself is the first part in a three-game series to overhaul the original 1997 RPG, and takes place exclusively in the city of Midgar, where Cloud teams up with AVALANCHE to disrupt Shinra’s mako-sucking reactors. However, the game greatly fleshes out the game’s cast and introduces new side quests, locations, and narrative threads, essentially turning what was a small section of the PSOne original into its own full-length experience.
