Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn extra game time awarded to all players after stressful launch

Square Enix has given extra game time to players of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn in response to ongoing server issues.

In a statement, Square Enix revealed that all accounts for the game will receive an extra seven days of game time. This will be added following maintenance on September 4. Gamers who have yet to enter their registration codes will receive seven days if they register before 11:59 pm (Pacific Daylight Time) on September 9. It reads as if gamers in the latter category won’t have the seven days that will be given to those who are already registered.

The free game time will follow maintenance on the game’s infrastructure that will allow more people to gain access. The duration of the maintenance will be from 5.00 pm (PDT) September 3 to 3:00 am (PDT) September 4.

The server issues began during the early access period, with the high amount of players trying to access the game meaning that many were unable to. Square Enix has put restrictions in place to deal with the issues.

Launch issues have also delayed our review of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. As things continue to improve, we expect our review to go live later this week. "Please be excited."
