The PS4 edition of last year’s much-lauded remastering of both Final Fantasy X and its direct sequel X-2 has been confirmed for an official release on May 12 in North America.
Initially announced at the tail end of last year, the brand-spanking new edition will ship both games on the single disc much like the last time around and comes housed in a pretty beautiful box art.
Despite there not being much discernible difference to that of its PS3 and PS Vita counterparts – aside from the fact that you can now switch back to the original soundtrack instead of the remastered one – the collection’s still a must-have for players who enjoyed the games the first time around but didn’t manage to pick them up last year.
Moreover, if you pre-order the game you’ll get a nifty desktop calendar.
Here’s a rundown of the what this version entails, courtesy of an official press release:
– Cross-Save Functionality – Players can transfer their save and continue their progress across the PlayStation®4 system, PlayStation®3 system, and the PlayStation®Vita handheld entertainment system. (PlayStation®3 and PlayStation®Vita versions sold separately.)
– Ability to Switch Between Original and Remastered Soundtrack – Play FINAL FANTASY X with the beautifully remastered soundtrack or, new to the PlayStation®4 system version, switch back to the original classic tracks.
– Remote play – Supported for the Playstation®Vita handheld entertainment system.
