Firesprite Studio has posted a job opening for a Principal Gameplay Animator to work on a ‘dark, story-driven next generation Narrative Adventure’ project.
The successful candidate will be working closely alongside other teams at Firesprite to create playable animations ‘to the highest quality,’ with the as-yet untitled project describing as having ‘AAA ambitions’ with a strong emphasis on character. Next-gen technology was specifically mentioned as helping to bring the game’s atmosphere, storytelling, player-agency and narrative into ‘ground-breaking territory.’

We’re striving for a specificity of character and emotion that delivers distinct performance, heightens player immersion, and sets a new bar for gameplay character animation. As a part of the animation team, you will be instrumental in bringing that ambition to life.
Interestingly, the use of the term ‘dark’ has already been used to describe an in-development project at Firesprite Studios, with a report in August of last year also stating the mystery title is based on an existing horror IP.
Firesprite Studios is based in Liverpool, UK and was formed in 2012 by ex members of Sony Computer Entertainment Studio Liverpool. The company was acquired by Sony Interactive Entertainment back in September 2021, with its first project as a PlayStation first-party developer being Horizon: Call of the Mountain for PSVR2.
