First G.I. Joe screens reek of movie game garbage

With games like Wanted: Weapons of Fate, The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine all arriving within the next few months, we thought that the era of movie game cash-ins might be coming to an end. In steps G.I. Joe to "save" the day.

Fine, so "movie game garbage" might be a bit harsh, but the first screens of G.I. Joe’s videogame adaptation don’t exactly look promising. Despite a few competent aspects, like the decent depth of field effects and a solid character model for the ninja dude (clearly we’re not G.I. Joe aficionados), the following images contain tons of flaws.

Before we go any further, we realize that this game won’t be out until this summer, but we also know that the job of a marketing team is to display the absolute best aspects of a game prior to its release. Apparently, this is the best that G.I. Joe has to offer.

With that said, lets get down to the details. The below images display a combination of barren, blocky landscapes, poor environmental texture work, clipping issues (blocked by our watermark in the third image), and laughable explosions. Hopefully we’re completely mistaken with our initial impressions and the next wave of media impresses, but still, this is not a good start for G.I. Joe.
