Dontnod; the acclaimed studio behind cult hit Remember Me and the captivating episodic title Life is Strange, have released a teaser trailer of concept art for their next project. An RPG set in early 20th Century London that focuses on vampiric lore.
The Unreal 4-powered project -known simply as Vampyr- will follow Jonathan E. Reid, a high-ranking military surgeon who succumbs to vampirism soon after returning home from the frontline. The rest of the plot will involve taking on missions that help further your investigation into the curse of the vampire and others that assist those afflicted by the deadly Spanish flu. The catch is that you will eventually need to feed and whoever you choose to devour (and Dontnod say you can choose anyone in the game) will have a meaningful impact on the world.
There’s also a system for luring and seducing potential prey that sounds something akin to the Hitman series, but it won’t all be skulking in the shadows. There will be combat, ranging from simple melee strikes to supernatural powers. You’ll need them too as you’ll be hounded by other vampire species and vampire hunters among others.
Also of note is that your health bar and powers are entwined, so if you go in powers-heavy, you can expect to need to feed much sooner. you can take a look at the concept trailer below to get the mood Dontnod are trying to go for.
Vampyr will come to PS4 at some point in 2017 and hopefully we get to see the game in action by the end of this year.
