First Vampyr screenshots are a far cry from Life is Strange in Dontnod’s new action-RPG

Focus Home Entertainment has unleashed the first stunning batch of screenshots for Dontnod Entertainment’s upcoming action-RPG, Vampyr.

Currently in development for PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One for release in 2017, Vampyr is a world apart from the studio’s previous outing, Life is Strange, taking place in post-World War I London in the year 1918.

With the country on its knees following the end of the Great War, London’s citizens have to cope with the outbreak of a deadly influenza, which is methodically killing off the once great city’s inhabitants. With the majority of the population holding up indoors with the hope of avoiding infection, those who do brave the outside world are preyed upon by another immediate threat: Vampyrs.

Players control a Doctor-turned-Vampyr throughout the pandemic who has the chance to either feed upon or cure their victims, with each character having an affect on the game world depending upon your actions. Gamers can form a deadly arsenal of weapons and items by looting corpses, while feeding on human blood can augment your already-impressive array of supernatural powers.

Vampyr promises to combine exploration with hard-hitting, real-time melee combat, with gamers able to wield a variety of close and ranged-based weapons in combination with terrifying Vampyr abilities.
