SEGA has unveiled the first screenshot for Yakuza 6, showcasing protagonist Kazuma Kiryu in typical moody fashion.
While the publishing has already showcased plenty of footage on the game since its announcement, this is the first image that hasn’t been taken from the demo of the upcoming action-adventure sequel.

In related news, gaming bible Famitsu has confirmed that a special event will be held on July 26, where details on the game, including its setting and release date, will be announced alongside a new trailer.
Yakuza still going strong after 10 years, but will Yakuza 6 come to the U.S. and Europe?
Yakuza first launched back in 2005 on PlayStation 2 and quickly became one of the top-selling games in its native Japan. A sequel followed, although reception to the franchise in western markets wasn’t quite as strong as SEGA had hoped for, leading to delays in subsequent titles being localised.
Yakuza: Kenzan, a spinoff title set in feudal Japan, has yet to see the light of day outside of Japan since its launch on PS3 back in early 2008. However, starting again with Yakuza 3, the mainline franchise has made the transition to the U.S. and Europe, though it’s unknown how exactly the games have performed.
The latest title to see a release in western markets is Yakuza 5, which was released as a digital download on the PlayStation Store last December. In addition, SEGA announced that it’s bringing Yakuza Zero to the west at some point this year.
Yakuza 6 is currently a Japan-only title, although given the series’ history we’ll hopefully see it launch in the west at some point. Check out the debut trailer.
