For Honor standard edition omission on PS Store provokes gamers

Ubisoft’s medieval-flavored hack-’n-slash outing, For Honor, is now available to purchase via the PlayStation Store, but there appears to be a catch: the standard edition of the game is not for sale digitally.

A quick glance at the PlayStation Store reveals that only the For Honor Deluxe and Gold Editions are up for grabs, alongside the For Honor Season Pass and a PS4 Theme. Apparently, the standard edition of the multiplayer-based actioner does not launch until April in digital form. This applies to the European PS Store only.

Though some gamers have seen this as a dishonorable sales tactic by Ubisoft to make us buy an enhanced and more expensive version of the game, the Deluxe Edition is priced £54.99, which ties in with the price of other recent standard triple-A games on the Store. So, maybe there’s another reason why the Standard Edition is not available in Europe.

For those of you who don’t know, the For Honor Gold Edition includes the base game, the Season Pass, plus a variety of extra digital goodies. The Deluxe Edition meanwhile features the game plus the Digital Deluxe Pack, which includes three ornaments, an emblem pack, and other in-game extras.

For Honor is out now for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. The game is a multiplayer-focused auctioneer where players control a range of historical soldiers, including Knights, Samurai, and Vikings within a fantasy medieval setting. The three available factions are split into four classes, each of which possesses their own unique attributes; Vanguards for example are more balanced in terms of offence and defence, while Assassins are faster and excel in duelling but deal less damage.
