Valve Corporation’s Gabe Newell has poured cold water over any hopes of seeing the company get to grips with Sony’s PlayStation 3 console, with the firm apparently not working on the platform in any shape or form.
Keen to get an update on the situation, G4TV’s Geoff Knighley presented the Valve boss with the following question: “Are you guys working on PlayStation 3 here now, trying to understand it, trying to get better at it?"
In response, Newell offered a decidedly unambiguous, "Uh, no. not in any real way."
As many of our readers are probably aware, Valve’s relationship with Sony’s black behemoth has been tempestuous to say the least, with the company’s only PS3 release thus far being that of The Orange Box, which wasn’t handled in-house at Valve, but rather by EA. Newell himself has never minced words in regards to his dislike of Sony’s platform, once describing it as ‘a waste of everybody’s time.’
