Gears of War E-Day was announced as an Xbox console exclusive during Microsoft’s recent games showcase, but it appears that decision was only made very recently. A screenshot of the gameplay trailer clearly shows a PS5 logo at the bottom, backing up previous reports that the game was intended to launch for Sony’s console too.
As previously reported, Jeff Grubb stated that a PS5 version of the game exists. “So yeah, there’s a basically finished version of Gears for PlayStation sitting on a drive,” he commented.
Asha Sharma, EVP and CEO of Microsoft Gaming, appears to be making her stamp on Xbox as she has introduced a number of exclusives for the system despite the format holder previously embracing multiplatform under Phil Spencer’s leadership. In addition to Gears of War E-Day, we also have Clockwork Revolution, which is an Xbox console exclusive – however, other titles such as Fable are still coming to PS5.
Gears of War Reloaded, a remaster of the original 2006 shooter, is now available for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
