GI details Assassin’s Creed: Revelations locations

Game Informer has got the skinny on the four primary locations Ezio will be sneaking around in Ubisoft’s upcoming stealthy sequel Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.

The publication confirmed in its latest issue that gamers will be able to explore Rhodes and Masyaf, in addition to the sprawling Constantinople and Cappadocia.

Revelations’ action kicks off in familiar territory, with Ezio finding himself in the Syrian citadel of Masyaf from the original Assassin’s Creed. Apparently, our hero is here to find out more info on the order in its library, only to find the place infested with Templars.

The bulk of the game will transpire in Constantinople, as previously reported. Creative director Alexandre Amancio had the following to say on the matter: "Constantinople is a massive city. It actually spans two continents – on one side is Europe, and other Asia.”

"This is the center of the known world at that time. The spice trading and all that related trade happened through Constantinople. It was one of the main reasons that Europeans tried to go around Africa – because Constantinople was this great hub controlled by the Ottomans. And, essentially, everything needed to go through that city."

Elsewhere, GI revealed that Ezio will also get to infiltrate an underground Templar stronghold based in Cappadocia, an eastern province in Turkey.

"Part of it is above ground, but its true secret is underground," explained  Amancio. "This is the first  time something like this has been done in the franchise. We have this complete underground city."

Last up is the Greek island of Rhodes, which features as a multiplayer environment. Here, the location has been transformed into a massive fortress by the ruling Knights Hospitallers to help push back the invading Ottomans.

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations will be sneaking into stores in November 2011.
