Sony Santa Monica Studio has reassured God of War fans that Kratos will still appear in future games in the franchise, following the announcement of God of War Laufey, which features his wife, Faye, as the lead character.
Speaking in a YouTube video regarding the newly-announced title, Cory Barlog, who is now head of creative at the developer, commented, “there’s always going to be games about Kratos [and] we’re super excited about that.” Meanwhile, Ariel Lawrence, Game Director for God of War Laufey, added, “We can’t not tell stories about the big guy!”
If that wasn’t enough to quell any concerns about Kratos’ future in the series, the official X account for Sony Santa Monica Studio added:
Kratos is the God of War – we have many more stories to tell with him. For now, we’re excited to take fans on a journey into the afterlife of the gods with Faye and hope you’ll come along for the ride!
While we wait for Sony Santa Monica Studio to announce its next Kratos-centric God of War adventure, it’s worth noting that the character will return in the God of War Trilogy Remake project, which features TC Carson reprising his role as the legendary Spartan warrior.
