Sony Santa Monica Studio has confirmed that God of War Laufey will feature a physical disc version of the game, which all but confirms the title will launch at some point in 2027.
The news comes following Sony’s announcement earlier this month that it will be ceasing production of game discs on PlayStation in January 2028. Given news that God of War Laufey will be available on disc, we can assume this means that the game will arrive at some point in 2027 before the January 2028 cutoff date.
This would also tie in with what we’ve previously heard about God of War Laufey’s release window, with leaker NateTheHate stating that it will arrive during the first half of 2027.
God of War Laufey was announced during Sony’s State of Play event earlier this month, and as previous rumours stated, will not feature Kratos as the main character. Instead, it features Faye, Kratos’ wife who was deceased at the start of God of War (2018) as she navigates the afterlife of the Gods, known as Everywhen, where she finds that the plans she put in place to protect her son Atreus, and Kratos are now at risk.
