The Golem release date has been announced today by Highwire Games and Perp Games, confirming the PSVR-exclusive title will ship in Europe as a physical release as early as November 8. The digital version of Golem will follow on November 12, at which point the game will also be rolling out in North America.
Golem Release Date Confirmed
Golem sees players taking on the role of an adventurous youngster named Twine, who after a serious accident has been left critically injured. Although Twine is now restricted to his bed, he develops the ability to create and control massive stone golems and see the world through their eyes.
The golems can be used to explore a massive abandoned city, where you can hoover up treasure and artefacts while unearthing the connection between the city and Twine’s family. Golem has been designed from the ground up for VR, and utilises an innovative free movement control scheme married to a one-to-one melee combat system that sees players having to feint, block, and counter-attack enemies.
Highwire’s creative director, Jaime Griesemer, commented:
It’s so gratifying to see our original vision for Golem come together into a full experience. We’ve really had to push ourselves and the technology, but I think the game is beautiful and I can’t wait for everyone to be able to play it. And we’re pretty old school, so it won’t feel ‘finished’ for us until we see it on store shelves.
Perp Games’ managing director, Rob Edwards, added:
Golem has been a long-time coming but the wait is almost over. It is our honour to be working with such an amazing team of world-class talent. We can’t wait to explore Golem’s secrets.
Golem will also feature a soundtrack from Halo and Destiny composer Marty O’ Donnell, while the game’s physical release will include a downloadable copy of Echoes of the First Dream, which is a musical prequel to the game.
