Speaking during a chat with Eurogamer about the upcoming racing simulation title, Yamauchi-san simply replied “yes!” in regards to whether or not the game’s multiplayer would allow for both generations of PlayStation consoles to play together.
In the same interview, Yamauchi also revealed that the game’s damage modelling system is essentially an improved version of what we’ve seen in GT Sport.
Gran Turismo 7 is scheduled for release on March 4, 2022 for PS4 and PS5. The game will join a number of upcoming first-party exclusives that will be available as cross-generation titles, including God of War Ragnarok and Horizon: Forbidden West.
The Gran Turismo franchise has sold over 80 million units worldwide since its inception in 1997 for the original PlayStation, making it the best-selling first-party Sony series to date.
