A physical version of Grand Theft Auto VI – that is, one with an actual disc in the box and not a download code – is reportedly not on the cards even months after the game launches in November 2026, according to a new report/
The Hollywood Reporter, in response to claims that a proper physical version of Rockstar Games’ title would arrive December, stated, “a source with knowledge of the [release] plans” noted this isn’t the case at all. While “confirm[ing] the authenticity of the email as coming from Rockstar”, the site claims “the language is being misinterpreted by a hopeful internet,” insisting there’s no plans for a physical release “not at launch, and not months later.”
“On Thursday, an email accidentally provided (more) false hope for a GTA 6 disc,” the site added. “The email, a response to a ticket filed to Rockstar Support asking for a disc-based version of Grand Theft Auto VI, stated, ‘You will be able to acquire a physical copy during the following months’.”
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Rockstar Games announced last week that the standard edition of the open world title will retail for $79.99, while the Ultimate Edition of GTA VI is set to cost $99.99 and comes with an array of cosmetic items and in-game shops.
