GTA IV censored in Australia

Grand Theft Auto IV has been censored for its release in Australian territories, Rockstar Games today confirmed.

The Sydney Morning Herald is reporting that the company has produced an edited version of the highly anticipated crime romp to secure it an MA15+ rating in the region.

Unlike the UK and the rest of Europe, Australia does not have a rating for consumers aged 18 and over, with MA15+ being the highest available.

The Office of Film and Literature Classification have issued a reminder to customers warning that the title contains "strong violence, strong coarse language, drug and sexual references."

Recently it was revealed that the game had been issued an 18 rating in the UK with no cuts necessary.
