If you are reading this, congratulations warrior, you’ve reached the final boss battle against Calaca in Guacamelee! 2. Your final fight versus Calaca has two phases so let’s get ready to rumble!
Guacamelee! 2: How to Beat Calaca Phase 1
In phase 1, Calaca will be in human form but he has a protective aura or shield surround him. You need the right attack to break his shield. Here are the attacks which break each shield depending on its color:
- Blue: Use the Dashing Derpderp
- Red: Use the Rooster Uppercut
- Yellow: Use the Olmec’s Headbutt
- Green: Use the Frog Slam
Pay attention whenever Calaca appears in white or black silhouette. By this time you should change dimensions for your attack to take effect.
Calaca also uses dashing slice and vertical drop which emits shockwaves to both sides. To avoid these, roll out or do a double jump over Calaca.
Once you avoided Calaca’s attack, perform a counterattack using the right hit for his shield’s color. Also, don’t just stand there waiting, you have to keep on moving. After you deliver a hit, run!
Guacamelee! 2: How to Beat Calaca Phase 2
Calaca transforms into a huge demon in phase 2 but don’t get intimidated. Calaca uses four attacks you can easily fight in the last stage.
For his first attack, he calls lava pillars which flows either vertically or in an X shape. Nonetheless, you can use the space between lava beams to avoid damage. You can also the rock chunks falling and throw it to Calaca to break his white shield and damage him.
The next attack, Calaca breathes out horizontal fire beam which will fill the screen. To avoid this, transform into a chicken or try to roll out.
Calaca’s third attack, you’ll see his mouth turns blue as he inhales. Then he’ll release blue energy fire chunks from his mouth. You can either roll out of it or evade it. If you get the timing right, catch the falling rocks and throw it back to Calaca’s projectile.
Calaca’s final attack in Guacamelee! 2 is lava wave from two-fisted slam on the ground. To avoid it, create a distance when you see he’s about to do it then double jump to avoid the lava. Use the Rooster Uppercut to stay more in the air.
