The long-rumoured Halo: Combat Evolved Remake will implement a number of modern gameplay mechanics and also feature a sprint option, according to accurate leaker Halo Leaks on X.
“I can definitely confirm the Halo CE Remake will have sprint & “modern gameplay mechanics. I’m of the belief it’s gameplay will be similar to the new Halo Multiplayer game, which I also believe is Halo 7’s MP,” the account wrote. When someone in the comments suggested this would be a full remake rather than a simple remaster, Halo Leaks replied, “Yes that’s correct, it’s a full remake similar to the Resident Evil remakes.”

Back in September, YouTuber RebsGaming stated that the remake of Halo: Combat Evolved is set to arrive in 2026 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Xbox classic, and like Halo Leaks above, claimed a sprint button will be featured. Beyond that, Halo: Combat Evolve Remake is utilising a hybrid of Unreal Engine 5 and Blam Engine.
A previous report earlier this year by RebsGaming stated that Halo: Combat Evolved Remake will only include the campaign, with development apparently starting in 2023.
While nothing official has been announced yet about the project, it is believed that we’ll see the game come to PS5 in addition to PC and Xbox formats given Microsoft’s pivot to bringing its major franchises to other consoles.
