343 Industries Halo Combat Evolved Remake Halo Remaster Halo: Combat Evolved News PS5

Halo: Combat Evolved Remake Reportedly Uses Hybrid Unreal Engine 5 & Blam Tech, Level Design Changes & More

YouTuber RebsGaming has revealed a slew of new details on the long-rumoured Halo: Combat Evolved Remake, which is reportedly set to arrive on multiple platforms in 2026 to celebrate the series’ 25th anniversary.

Citing a source that attended a private event and spoke directly to a developer working on the project, the Halo: Combat Evolved Remake is being worked on by not only 343 Industries but also another studio (who helped 343 on the Halo: The Master Chief Collection). The name of the studio wasn’t revealed, but Rebs stated it isn’t Certain Affinity and that the team has “a lot more resources now.”

One of the biggest details to have been mentioned in the report is the inclusion of a sprint mechanic in the current build of the game, which Halo obviously didn’t have. In addition, the remake will include level design tweaks, with the Library mission being one of them.

I’m told the visuals are pretty much the same as what we saw in Project Foundry, which has amazing visuals and is clearly based on Combat Evolved. And there will be level design changes, mostly to the Library mission, which involves Master Chief battling the Flood.

Finally, the Halo: Combat Evolved Remake will be powered by a hybrid of Unreal Engine 5 and Blame Engine, which Rebs compares to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.

While nothing official has been confirmed about a Halo: Combat Evolved Remake yet, it has previously been reported that the game will only feature the campaign and not include any multiplayer component.
