Copyright Claim Hazelight Studios It Takes Two News PS4 PS5 Take-Two Trademark

Hazelight’s It Takes Two Hit By Trademark Claim From Publisher Take-Two

Grand Theft Auto publisher Take-Two has filed a trademark claim against It Takes Two, the cooperative-puzzle from developer Hazelight Studios.

Josh Fares’ latest project was hit by a trademark claim earlier in the year, and Hazelight was forced to abandon ownership of the name. A spokesperson from the studio told Eurogamer that Hazelight “cannot comment on ongoing disputes,” but the developer was “hopeful it will be resolved.”

Take-Two has been pretty busy with copyright claims recently, with the US Patent Officer revealing the company is behind a string of filings contesting names with connections to ‘rockstar,’ ‘social club,’ ‘mafia,’ ‘civilisation,’ and others. One example is Think Like A Rockstar, which was forced to abandoned its trademark after a legal claim by Take-Two.

Another company hit by the publishing powerhouse’s ongoing legal actions is Rockstar Axe Throwing, axe-throwing outfit based in Florida, who is in the process of opposing Take-Two’s trademark claim.

It Takes Two was released in March 2021 for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One. Have a gander at our review here.
