Headcannon’s Simon Thomley ‘Grateful’ To Be Working On Sonic Origins Plus

Simon ‘Stealth’ Thomley, one of the developers at Headcannon who worked on the Sonic remasters, has said he’s ‘grateful’ to be involved in Sonic Origins Plus despite his dissatisfaction with the original version of the game.

Thomley had previously voiced his disappointment with Sonic Origins, which includes remasters of Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles, and Sonic CD by Headcannon. However, the game itself was worked on in-house by SEGA.

Despite his issues with Sonic Origins, things seem to have settled down and Thomley has revealed he’s been working with the publisher on its re-release.

I love Sonic, as does everyone at Headcannon, and Sega knows it. We know the same is true of our friends at Sega. I’m grateful to have had the chance to work with them in bringing Sonic Origins Plus to life as well as other past titles. We all want the best for Sonic’s future.

Alongside Sega’s work in updating the collection, we were also able to supply a few additional updates and enhancements to help make the title the best it can be. We appreciate their openness to our feedback and suggestions.

Sonic Origins Plus is due out on June 23, 2023 as an update for existing owners and is also getting a physical release. The game includes all content seen in the original release and adds 12 titles from the Sega Game Gear days.
