Fantasian Neo Dimension final fantasy News Nobuo Uematsu

Historic Composer Nobuo Uematsu Confirms Fantasian Neo Dimension Will Be His Last Major Project

Nobuo Uematsu, a composer most players will know from his work on the first nine Final Fantasy games has announced that his next video game project, Fantasian Neo Dimension will be his last.

“Fantasian releases on December 5,” he began in a video from the game’s official Twitter account. “This is my final project as a composer of video game music. I hope you’ll pick it up and play it. Thanks for your support!”

What seems to be his retirement from composing music for video games, Uematsu already signaled earlier in the year that he was closing in on retirement.

“I don’t think I’ll compose music for a whole game again,” he told German publication Zeit Online, while saying that he’ll remain involved with Final Fantasy in terms of its themes.

This announcement doesn’t seem to be a full retirement announcement, because Uematsu already said “it’d be my honor” to compose the theme for the third entry in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy.

But it does seem like this is Uematsu signaling that he’s getting a little closer to full retirement.
