Production on Netflix’s Horizon series has reportedly been shelved due to allegations levelled against showrunner Steve Blackman, who has been accused of fostering a toxic environment.
According to a report by Rolling Stone, anything related to Blackburn has now been cancelled, which includes Horizon and Orbital. Blackman is said to have fostered an abusive environment with his “toxic, bullying, manipulative, and retaliatory behaviour.” He reportedly made a number of sexist, homophobic, and transphobic remarks while on set.

Blackman has since denied these allegations by calling them “entirely untrue” and “completely absurd” and states that all employment matters were handled in accordance with policies and regulations.
As it stands there are no updates available on the status of the Horizon series, but if it is no longer moving forward with Netflix, then it is likely Sony will continue to pursue the project with a new studio at the helm. The show was confirmed as going ahead with Netflix back in May 2022, but it’s unknown just how far it progressed.
