Horizon Steel Frontiers Horizon Steel Frontiers Delay NCSoft News PC

Horizon Steel Frontiers Is Now Targeting Release In The First Half Of 2027

Horizon Steel Frontiers, the live service MMO from developer NCSoft, has now been pushed from its original 2026 release window into the first half of next year.

The delay was confirmed in the company’s latest investor relations report. It’s worth pointing out that the game is currently only confirmed for release on the PC, and although the game’s executive producer stated in November last year that the studio is eager to have the game on a PlayStation console, the decision isn’t down to them.

Speaking during an interview with 4Gamer at the time, Lee Song admitted that the “most common reaction” from fans in wake of the reveal trailer was the lack of a PS5 version.

Horizon Steel Frontiers is set in the same world masterminded by Horizon creator Guerrilla Games, and take place in the Deadlands, which is populated by machine hunters. The official blurb says that Horizon Steel Frontiers will expand on the series’ trademark hunting-action gameplay, introducing MMORPG systems that include deep customisable combat and “extensive player freedom.”

It should be noted that there’s another Horizon spinoff in the pipeline, Horizon Hunters Gathering, which is coming to the PS5. Sadly, it sounds like a full-blown sequel to Horizon Forbidden West is still a long ways off at this point. That’s at least according to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who claimed that a third Horizon game isn’t going to come out anytime soon as most of Guerrilla Games is busy with the aforementioned Horizon Hunters Gathering.

Having said that, leaker TCMF claimed in May 2025 that Horizon 3 could arrive in 2027, and hinted it could be released for both PS5 and PS6. This is obviously just a rumour, so we won’t know for sure until Guerrilla Games announces its future plans for the series.
