How to make your own PSVR headset

PSVR has been out in the wild for over a year now, and people are getting so excited playing the likes of Skyrim on the headset that they’ve been throwing up pure glee, getting joy migraines, and having dizzy spells of concentrated ecstasy.

Thing is, not everyone is going to be able to enjoy this latest sensation on account of having no money, no space, and/or the wrong kind of eyes, but if you’re not in with the latest trends then nobody is going to talk to you, and while that’s a blessing, it does leave you out of the cultural loop somewhat. Never fear though, here at PSU, we've got you covered.

Here’s how you can join in on the virtual reality revolution on the cheap by making your own PSVR headset.

How to make a cheap PSVR headset

Who needs technology made by big corporate bastards, right? You could do better, after all, you built that PC all on your own. I know this because you’ve only mentioned how easy it is, and how liberated you feel, three times a week ever since. VR should be a cinch, you just need to grab a few household items

  • A small television (24 inches preferably)
  • Two wire coat hangers

  • Some wires
  • Jumper cables
  • A Fiat Uno
  • A wild Sean Murray: Common in recent years, but difficult to procure since August 2016. You’ll need this to ensure your headset is ‘the future'

  • Yellowcake Uranium: Local convenience store should have this, if not espionage is acceptable
  • Bile of an Internet comment section: The best produce for this job is found on negative ELEX reviews or Facebook groups I find
  • Thick-rimmed glasses frames: Widely available in nursing homes, games media, and San Francisco.
  • Expired Calpol: Other, less legal, alternatives are also available.
  • A Bic lighter.

How To Build Your Headset

1. Separate the television's glass from its plastic casing.

2. Use the casing to fashion a headset shape, leaving two eyeholes.

3. Craft two circles from television's screen.

4. Glue some wires to it.

5. Stick circles into glasses frames and use lighter to affix creation to headset casing. Add some of that uranium in there, doesn’t matter where really.

6. Shape wire hangers into antenna and wrap wires around them.

7. Attach one end of jumper cables to headset wires and the other to the Fiat Uno.

8. Stick some more wires onto the headset and use the lighter to fuse them to your PS4.

9. Consume entire bottle of expired children’s medicine mixed with Internet Bile, and have your Sean Murray whisper promises of greatness into your ears.

10.Place headset on your head and have Sean Murray (other game developers are available) start up the Fiat Uno.

You should now be up and running! Congratulations, you’ve joined the VR elite with your very own PSVR headset!
