Buried somewhat within the Bethesda E3 2018 conference, where we learned that The Elder Scrolls 6 is a thing, was the news that you can now play Skyrim on your Amazon Echo.
There's been a fair bit of ribbing from gamers over the months due to Bethesda's penchant to put its Skyrim RPG onto every device known to man, so it was no real surprise to see it coming to everyone's favorite talking device.
The interactive game is called Skyrim: Very Special Edition. To play it, you first need to make sure it's all set up correctly on your Amazon Echo.
How to Play Skyrim on Amazon Echo
- Add the Skyrim Very Special Edition skill via the Amazon website. You'll obviously need to Echo connected to your Amazon account (if you haven't already done that you're a lost cause).
- Say “Alexa, Open Skyrim”. Not just randomly, but when you're standing in front of your Amazon Echo.
- Enjoy your new Skyrim experience!
Skyrim Very Special Edition is basically an interactive audio adventure. You'll need to make various decisions which affect the outcome of the game, and whenever you've had enough and shout “stop” Alexa will handily save your progress.
There's also some good news if you don't own an Amazon Echo. You can also download the Skyrim: Very Special Edition app on Android or iOS. It's simpler to set-up as you just have to say “Open Skyrim” with the app open to start your quest.
Enjoy!
