How To Transfer Your PS5 Data To The PS5 Pro

To transfer your data from the PS5 to the PS5 Pro, you’ll need to perform a Data Transfer, a feature that can be found in the console’s settings.

  • Turn on the PS5 and the PS5 Pro and connect them to the Internet on the same network
  • Select Settings > System Software > Data Transfer on the PS5 Pro.
  • Follow the next few screens and your PS5 Pro will then search and (hopefully) detect your PS5 over the net.
  • Both consoles should now connect, at which point your PS5 data will begin transferring to the PS5 Pro.

How To Transfer Your PS5 Data To PS5 Pro Without A PS5

While the above method is the easiest way to transfer PS5 data to PS5 Pro, it is possible to move your data across to the new console even if you don’t have a PS5 anymore (for example, if you are planning on selling your PS5 to replace it with the Pro, or even to help fund your new purchase). To do this, you will need an SSD to transfer your PS5 titles across, and then insert it into your new console, allowing you to then transfer the content to the PS5 Pro’s internal storage.

Alternatively, you can use a PlayStation Plus subscription to get the job done by uploading all your PS5 save data to the cloud. Once you have the PS5 Pro in your hands, you can head to Settings and then download all the data from the cloud to your new console. A much lengthier process involves individually downloading all your PS5 games again after logging into your PSN account on the PS5 Pro.

One final method of transferring data involves the use of a USB thumb drive. Firstly, on the PS5, head to Settings > System Software > Back Up and Restore. Selecting Back Up Your PS5 allows you to transfer your data to the USB device, after which you can insert it into your PS5 Pro and head to Settings > Restore Your PS5. This will, however, restore the new console to factory settings by wiping any current data on it.
