Hulu Plus, the video streaming service based on Hulu’s ever-expanding library of media content, is expanding to all PlayStation Network members willing to pony up a monthly $10 USD subscription fee as of next week.
Previously exclusive to PlayStation Plus+ members, Hulu Plus offers full seasons of current television shows from ABC, Fox, NBC, and more in 720p HD. To stream HD video, Hulu recommends a downstream bandwidth of at least three Mbps for a smooth playback experience.
Hulu Plus is cross-platform, with one subscription covering playback on a growing number of devices. The full list of compatible devices—which now includes 2010 Sony BRAVIA TVs and a number of Blu-ray players, as well as various Apple gadgets—is available here.
Hulu Plus seems to be a fairly superfluous addition to a cable package, but a pretty cheap alternative if you’re looking to drop cable altogether. Be on the lookout for the Hulu Plus application under the video section of the XMB beginning next week.
Editor’s Note: Though the press release said Hulu Plus will be open to "all PlayStation®Network members who own a PlayStation®3 (PS3™) computer entertainment system," Hulu has historically only been open to residents of the United States.
