inFAMOUS: Second Son dev hit by layoffs

Sony has revealed that Sucker Punch Productions, the developer behind the critically acclaimed inFAMOUS series, has been hit by a series of layoffs.

While it remains unknown as to how many staff have been affected by the losses, Sony did issue a statement on the matter, which you can read below.

"SCEE can confirm a reduction in workforce has taken place at Sucker Punch Productions," the company told Eurogamer.

"Sucker Punch is appreciative of the tremendous work team members contributed to the inFamous and Sly Cooper series, and wishes them the best in their next endeavours."

A number of employees commented on the layoffs on Twitter:

"Some good friends are no longer employed at Sucker Punch," wrote Josh Jersild, a software engineer with Sucker Punch. "I’m going to miss having them around. Guys and gals, my thoughts are with you."

Lead animator, Jason Stansell, added: "Saddened by the loss of some of the most unbelievably talented people I’ve had the honor to work with. Feel free to reach out w/ any leads."

Sucker Punch is currently polishing off the forthcoming inFAMOUS: Second Son expansion, First Light, which is due out later this month.
