Insider Says There Is ‘Truth’ To Sony Exploring The Revival Of Its Older IPs

NateTheHate, a trusted industry tipster who has a solid record, has revealed in a post on X that there’s “truth” to Sony looking at the possibility of reviving some of its older IP, but wouldn’t name any specific franchises.

His comments come in response to an X user asking him about the recent rumours of an inFAMOUS revival PS5, and while he personally hasn’t heard anything about that franchise making a comeback, he did add: “There is truth to Sony exploring & considering reviving some of their older, unused IPs.”

As previously reported, Sony is apparently looking into bringing back the inFAMOUS series, with VGC’s Jordan Middler suggesting it could be a remake of the first two PS3 titles. In the wider scheme of things, there’s definitely a lot of IPs the PlayStation maker could resurrect, with the likes of Ape Escape, MotorStorm, SOCOM, Sly Cooper, Resistance and others having not done anything in years.

Many of Sony’s major first-party studios have obviously found success in new franchises in the past decade or so. For example, Guerrilla Games has moved from Killzone To Horizon, while Insomniac has been busy with its Marvel’s Spider-Man series and is gearing up for the launch of Marvel’s Wolverine this September.
