Speaking during an interview with GamesRadar, IO Interactive’s Ramsus Poulsen described how the upcoming 007 First Light will feature some missions that are by far among the largest the studio has ever done in terms of measurements.
Poulsen made the comments when describing some of the locations in the James Bond title, notably the chateau, which they noted is more familiar in terms of design for IO as it affords the player a chance to roam around freely and implements social gameplay. This should be recognisable to anyone who has played the last few Hitman games, and it seems that IO is really branching out in terms of the scale some of Bond’s missions.

The drive in… It’s about giving you that calm, story-driven introduction to the world, where we’re inviting you to roleplay James Bond, experience and simply take in the world, and form your own expectations of the mission at hand. When you arrive, we dive into much more familiar territory from an IO perspective and from an audience perspective, where we have this chateau laid out before you, which then has in it everything from social gameplay up to the larger areas where you are free to roam around and utilize the width of the gameplay that we have to offer.
“I would say some of the missions in the game are the largest we’ve done in our history in terms of measurements,” added Poulsen.
In a separate interview with IGN, IO Interactive’s Hakan Abrak stated that the studio secured the license to make 007 First Light by offering up a demo set in a Hitman stage that featured Daniel Craig’s likeness over the body of Agent 47. 007 First Light is set to launch on March 27, 2026 for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S.
007 First Light features a 26-year-old James Bond as he navigates the early stages of his career with the British Secret Service, and will feature iconic characters such as M, Q, and Moneypenny.
