Irem’s confirmed that it has canned PlayStation 3 outing Disaster Report 4 in light of the horrific earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan’s Tohoku last Friday.
The game would have marked the series’ PS3 debut having previously popped up on PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable. The game revolved around players having to escape a city rocked by a massive earthquake.
Disaster Report 4 was pencilled in for a Japanese release in spring 2011, and appeared in playable form at last year’s Tokyo Game Show.
In recent news following the natural disaster in Japan, several top game companies have already pledged their support for the on-going recovery effort in the region, with the likes of Sony, Nintendo and Namco Bandai making significant donations to the cause.
