Is Fortnite Getting Removed From PS4?

Is Fortnite Getting Removed From PS4? The battle royale and live service game that has forever changed the games industry, Fortnite, remains as one of the biggest gaming franchises in the industry.

It’s played by people of all ages and has recently been expanding to include more features, like entire games built by other users or other professional studios all within Fortnite.

Fortnite’s gotten so big, and has expanded so far, that players are starting to wonder about what’ll happen if it goes too far for their current console. Players on previous-generation platforms like PS4 in particular, are worried.

So is Fortnite getting removed from PS4? Is Fortnite on PS4 getting shut down? Will Fortnite be removed from PS4?

Let’s find out.

Is Fortnite Getting Removed From PS4?

There are no signs from either Epic Games or PlayStation that Fortnite will be removed from PS4. It is still played by tons of players on PS4, and there remains a significant player base still playing on all previous-gen consoles.

Part of Fortnite’s wild run of success is the fact that you can play it everywhere. It’s available on all the platforms it was first available on, namely PS4, Xbox One and PC.

But you can also play Fortnite on mobile devices, through cloud streaming, on the Nintendo Switch, and of course all current-gen consoles like PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

It’s core to Fortnite’s experience that it can be everywhere, on all devices, wherever someone wants to experience it. With that in mind it is doubtful we’ll see official word from Epic or Sony that Fortnite will no longer be available on PS4.

Of course, the PS4 is getting older every day, as is Fortnite. And though Fortnite keeps getting updates, the PS4 does not, and there are already plenty of visual and technical features packed into Fortnite that the PS4 simply can’t handle.

Those features aside though, Fortnite is still very playable on PS4, and will be until there comes a time when it’s no longer playable on Sony’s fourth PlayStation console because there’s no one working to keep the servers going.

That day is likely inevitable, given how the industry operates, but it doesn’t mean that day is coming anytime soon.
