Is Marvel Rivals Coming To PS5, PS4?

Is Marvel Rivals Coming To PS5, PS4? – After being teased by Marvel Games the day before, it was revealed that a new Overwatch-like 6v6 third-person shooter from Marvel Games and NetEase is on the way, called Marvel Rivals.

The announcement trailer showed off some gameplay, and revealed that there is a Closed Alpha Test players can sign up for to potentially play it first in May 2024.

But the big question players have is Marvel Rivals coming to PS5? Is Marvel Rivals coming to PS4? Will it be available on PlayStation?

Let’s find out.

Is Marvel Rivals Coming To PS5, PS4?

Yes, it probably will be coming to consoles, PS5 and PS4 included. The reveal trailer didn’t list platforms other than PC as to where players can find it, but the reporting around Marvel Rivals prior to reveal points to a console launch coming.

In the game’s official Discord which went live shortly after the announcement, under the FAQ regarding where Marvel Rivals will be available to play, NetEase and Marvel Games say “We’re actively exploring potential releases on other platforms. Keep an eye out for further announcements as our universe expands!”

Ahead of the reveal, Forbes reported that a 6v6 Overwatch-like shooter would be incoming, and according to that report there are signs it’ll be available on PC, consoles, and mobile.

There’s also the fact that this is an online multiplayer shooter, and games of Marvel Rivals’ ilk need the biggest pool of players possible to be really successful.

It’s of course possible that it won’t come to consoles – NetEase has a long history of making mobile games, so if any platforms can be looked at as locks, it would be mobile alongside PC.

That said, it would be potentially ruinous if a console port isn’t at least attempted, so if you were excited by the Marvel Rivals announcement and don’t have a gaming PC at the ready, fear not. It’ll most likely be on PS5 and PS4 if not at its launch, soon after.

The only players that should likely still be concerned are PS4 players, since the more we move deeper into the PS5 generation, the less likely we are to keep getting games on PS4.
