Square’s tongue-twistingly titled Dissidia Duodecim: Final Fantasy has debuted at number one on the Japanese software charts following its release on March 3.
The PSP brawler sold a whopping 286,117 units in its first week on sale, though by comparison its predecessor managed nearly 500,000 units upon its release back in December 2008. Still, all in all, not too shabby.
Elsewhere, PS3 outing Way of the Samurai 4 moved 70,380 units during its first week, while Capcom’s Monster Hunter Freedom 3 continues to cling on to the Top Ten at nine with 26,210 copies shift.
In total, the game’s shifted an eye-watering 4,351,882 units in Japan since its launch in the region in December 2010.
Meanwhile, PSP continues to remain Sony’s top performer in Japan this week with 76,246 units sold, while PS3 moved 25,918 units. No surprises for guessing first place, though – 3DS has that in the bag with 209,623 units sold.
