Final Fantasy XIII-2 has muscled its way to the top of the Japanese charts for the week ended December 18, reports MediaCreate.
The RPG sequel shifted 524,217 copies at launch on PlayStation 3, with the Xbox 360 version failing to chart within the top 20.
By comparison, the original Final Fantasy XIII sold between 1 and 1.1 million in 24 hours upon its Japanese debut in late 2009.
Elsewhere, as previously reported, Everybody’s Golf 6 (aka Hot Shots Golf in the U.S.) and Uncharted: Golden Abyss were PlayStation Vita’s most successful launch titles, selling 61,412 and 48,224 units each, respectively.
On the hardware front, Sony’s new handheld failed to topple 3DS, selling 324,859 units compared to its competitor’s 367,691. However, it’s worth noting that Vita’s sales only account for two days, seeing as how it launched on December 17.
