Japan: PS3 enjoys sales spike

Sales of PlayStation 3 in Japan have received a firm shot in the arm following the launch of anime title One Piece Pirate Musou.

Sony’s flagship console moved 65,116 units for the week ending March 4, more than double the amount it managed the previous week.

The same couldn’t be said for PlayStation Vita sadly, with the high-tech handheld barely managing 10,000 units and again coming behind its predecessor, PSP.

3DS once again sat pretty at the summit of the hardware charts, with PSP sandwiched in between its big brother and successor. Furthermore, Sony’s aging slab has five games to its name in the top 20.
