Kaos Studios’ David Votypka has offered his two pence as to why gamers should take a punt on its military shooter Homefront, believing the game has “the potential to connect with audiences in a way that most contemporary shooters don’t.”
Chatting with the folks at CVG, Votypka reckons the near-futuristic blaster should resonate with anyone who happens to be a fan of triple-A shooter franchises such as Call of Duty, Battlefield and Half-Life.
"I would say that Homefront is going to appeal to Call of Duty fans, Battlefield fans and Half-Life fans – it has elements in the game that would appeal to those audiences,” he said.
"It also brings some really fresh, innovative ideas and gameplay mechanics, particularly in multiplayer with the Battle Points and Battle Commander system – we feel like we’re really bringing something fresh and new with the modern military online experience.”
"Then on the single-player side the way we’ve done this common man’s perspective of the story of the resistance… being out-gunned and chased and focusing on the experience of occupied America."
"I think it has the potential to connect with audiences in a way that most contemporary shooters don’t," explained. "It’s going to be an experience that feels different to what you’re used to playing – in a good way."
PSU certainly felt that Homefront was worth the investment, with US Editor Adam Dolge slapping an impressive 8/10 on the FPS earlier this week.
