Knockout City Is Going Free To Play, Will No Longer Be Published By EA

Announced earlier today, developer Velan Studios will soon be self-publishing Knockout City, as the game will be going free-to-play with the start of Season 6.

The change will come this Spring, when EA will no longer be the publisher and it will also mark Year 2 for the multiplayer dodgeball title.

“We couldn’t have introduced Knockout City to the world without the incredible support of EA Originals, but now as we switch to free-to-play, the natural next step is for us to take over publishing responsibilities and work even more closely with our community.

We have exciting plans for Knockout City, and bringing publishing in-house will allow us to fully realize our vision for the long-term future of this game.”

With this change being the focus now for Velan, the studio also announced that there won’t be a new brawl pass for Season 5, or a new map added into the game.

That however will change with Season 6, as there will be a whole new pass available along with a slew of new cosmetics.
