Konami dates console release of PES 2008

Konami Digital Entertainment today revealed a firm release date for the PlayStation 3, PS2, Xbox 360 and PC versions of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008.

The company confirmed the game would be released in the United Kingdom and Germany from October 23rd, 2007; release dates for the rest of Europe have yet to be announced, but it is likely the game will hit shelves on the same date or later that month. The game will be released in Winter 2007 in North America.

Unsurprisingly, the PlayStation Portable and Nintendo DS versions have been delayed until November, echoing last year’s decision to delay the handheld release of the series until after it arrived on home consoles. Finally, the release date for the Nintendo Wii version has yet to be decided, but it is also planned for 2007.

Konami president Kunio Neo declared it as "the greatest football/soccer game of all time".

"Demand is massive for what is easily the best Pro Evolution Soccer title to date, and we anticipate record sales as we bring the series to PlayStation 3 for the first time, and unleash stunning versions for all leading formats”, added Neo.
