Last Guardian progress ‘not as fast as we’d been hoping for,’ says Sony

Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida has admitted that development on The Last Guardian isn’t coming along as swiftly as the firm had hoped.

Chatting with VG247, Yoshida commented, "It’s been very difficult in terms of seeing the progress: not as fast as we’d been hoping for, and the team has been under big pressure. But we’re still making progress, so I’d like to continue to support and keep waiting for great news sometime in the future."

Elsewhere, Yoshida didn’t sound overly optimistic when asked about a possible appearance for the boy-meets-beast adventure at the Tokyo Game Show next month.

"I’d say it could be a little bit longer,” he replied.

Quizzed on the chances of seeing anything new from the Gran Turismo team, Yoshida replied:

"As far as the Gran Turismo team’s concerned, they are still working on updating the games, so they’re just shifting to the designing and concepting phase of the next project. It’s going to take a few years."

The Last Guardian is scheduled for release in 2012, exclusively on PlayStation 3.
