According to a report on VGC, LEGO has teamed up with publisher 2K for a new line of video game sports titles.
The partnership is a multi-game deal and is part of LEGO’s move to strengthen its video game endeavours beyond its exclusivity deal with TT Games. According to VGC’s report, Sumo Digital will be developing the first entry in this sports lineup, which is believed to be a football title.
Beyond this, Visual Concepts, the studio behind WWE 2K22, is working on an open-world LEGO racing game, which is the same title mentioned in a job listing that describes an “open world driving game with a major license.”
The football is supposedly due for release later this year alongside the FIFA World Cup, with the racing title due out in 2023. The third entry is also based on a major sports franchise, although that’s all about we know so far.

Elsewhere, one of VGC’s sources indicated that the LEGO sports games may include guest appearances from some of the toy manufacturer’s popular cross-over licenses, including Marvel, Harry Potter, and DC.
In addition, it’s been claimed that LEGO will not be extending its TT Games deal, with the studio having one more title in development beyond LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which is due out in April.
Nothing official has been announced by 2K or LEGO yet, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
