Life Is Strange Double Exposure Respects Whichever Ending You Chose In The Original Life Is Strange

Deck Nine Games has provided more details on Life Is Strange: Double Exposure, confirming the game will respect whichever ending you opted for in the original Life Is Strange. As such, neither one is considered canon.

Speaking in a recent livestream, Felice Kuan, narrative director on the upcoming murder mystery romp, commented:

We knew that this had to be something special. We knew we had to respect the two unforgettable endings to the first chapter of Max’s story, while also crafting something new, something fresh that echoed Max’s past challenges even while it moved Max’s personal story forward.

Life Is Strange: Double Exposure Game Director, Jon Strauder, added:

It was really important at Deck Nine that if we were to make another Max adventure that the game we’d have to respect both those endings. There’s no canon ending in our book to the first game. Double Exposure will respect both endings in Max’s thoughts, her journal, her SMS, her interactions with other characters, what she opts to reveal about her past to her new friends, it’s all reflective of that final choice.

The original Life Is Strange ending featured a major choice for players regarding the fate of the town and your best friend, Chloe. The game is nearly a decade old at this point, but I won’t go into any further details in case you still haven’t played it.

Life Is Strange: Double Exposure is scheduled for release on October 29, 2024 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. A Nintendo Switch version will follow at a later date.
