Horizon Light Of Motiram News PS5 Sony Tencent

Light Of Motiram Studio Changes Steam Page To Reduce Its Similarities To Horizon Following Sony Lawsuit

Sony’s ongoing lawsuit with Tencent over the Polaris Quest-developed Light of Motiram has resulted in the game’s Steam page received some tweaking to tone down its obvious similarities to the Horizon franchise.

These changes include a rewrite of a description of the game, adding new screenshots in place of older ones, alterations to key art, and a release window being added. For example, the original description of Light of Motiram is as follows:

In a world overrun by colossal machines, explore the vast open world, build your base of operations, advance technology, train Mechanimals, and take on formidable bosses. Starting from the primitive age, forge a new path of development. Defy the machination, survive with mechanimals.

It now reads:

Make smart use of everything around you to stay alive and face off against formidable bosses, every step is fraught with danger and requires courage. Only by overcoming the challenges of survival can you carve out a place for yourself in this unforgiving land.

In addition, screenshots have also been changed so that they less resemble Horizon and its mechanised beasts, instead replaced by more generic landscape images. Light of Motiram’s key promotional art has also been swapped out; the original image featuring a protagonist that bears similarities to Alloy from Horizon has been replaced with art featuring two creatures. Finally, the release window now reads Q4 2027, so the game is still a long way off.

Sony filed the lawsuit against Tencent at the end of July, accusing the Chinese conglomerate of ripping off the Horizon franchise with Light of Motiram, which features a striking similarity to Guerrilla Games’ series from its mechanised behemoths to the post-apocalyptic setting. As mentioned above, even the main protagonist looks like a rip-off of Alloy, and just looking at the screenshots you can see obvious similarities with Horizon.
