By now, you’re probably aware that several websites and gamers have reported issues with Street Fighter IV and Mad Catz’s Standard FightStick, including sticky buttons and sticks. According to Mad Catz, however, these defects are not as widespread as you may believe them to be. While Mad Catz has had a history of defective products, the company has put a lot of time into trying to fix that image. As we explained in our review of the Standard FightStick, we experienced no real issues with the stick.
According to Alex Verrey, Mad Catz Global PR & Communications Manager, minor problems are found in a small percentage of their sticks, like you’d expect of any product.
"There are no major problems with the Street Fighter range of products," Verrey stated. "Customers can buy with complete confidence."
"As with all complex precision-engineered products, there is always a chance that a tiny percentage of product may exhibit a fault," continued Verrey. "This is TOTALLY normal and not at all unexpected. Usually this is due to circumstances beyond our control but this does NOT mean that there is any kind of inherent fault with the design or manufacture of the product."
Verrey suggests going to the Mad Catz warranty section of their website in order to have your FightStick fixed if you happened to have purchased a malfunctioning product. You can do so here.
