Mafia 3 has debuted in second place on the U.K. All Format Chart, smashing sales records for the gangster franchise in the process.
Mafia 3 PS4 beats Xbox One version in first week sales
To be more specific, Hangar 13’s open-world action-adventure sequel outpaced week on sales of its 2010 predecessor by an impressive 58.7 percent. In addition, the PlayStation 4 version of Mafia 3 accounted for 63 percent of launch sales, outpacing the Xbox One edition in the process. Despite this, the game failed to supplant FIFA 17 from the top spot.
Mafia 3 takes place in a fictional recreation of New Orleans, known as New Bordeaux, in the late 1960s. Players control Vietnam War veteran Lincoln Clay, who returns home to his old gangster trappings only to barely survive an attempt on his life by Italian mobsters. With his former gang members gunned down, Clay begins a mission of revenge and quickly established his own criminal empire to get even.
The game features a vast open-world to explore, and aside from building up your criminal empire, players can take part in a variety of side missions throughout New Bordeaux, or just explore and soak up the swingin’ 60s atmosphere.
