Marvel Heroes Omega was a F2P effort that showed promise

The news of Marvel Heroes Omega being pulled prematurely follows on from our original report that stated the IP holder, Disney, withdrew the license to develop the game from developer Gazillion Entertainment.

At the time. numerous ex-employees took to social media to confirm Gazillion's closure, which arrives not long after Disney announced its intention to “end its relationship” with the company.

“We regret to inform our Marvel Heroes fans that we have ended our relationship with Gazillion Entertainment, and that the Marvel Heroes games will be shut down. We would like to sincerely thank the players who joined the Marvel Heroes community, and will provide any further updates as they become available,” said Disney at the time.

In addition to leaving a great many talented developers out of work at a crucial time of the year, the closure of Marvel Heroes Omega also left the situation of customer refunds as a massive grey area too. Because the game allowed folks to purchase heroes and costumes with real money, those same individuals are angry that they might not receive a refund for the items they have bought.

Marvel Heroes Omega fully released on PS4 back in June 2017 after an extended period in open beta. We enjoyed our time with Marvel Heroes Omega at the time, awarding it a lofty 8/10 score.
