Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that Masayasu Ito is resigning as company representative director and deputy president on October 1, 2022, and will be replaced by Lin Tao.
In addition, Kiichiro Urata is to be appointed company director, and is currently serving as Sony’s head of Japan Asia partner development relations.
Ito-san previously worked at Sony Corporation for 11 years before joining Sony Interactive Entertainment (then Sony Computer Entertainment) in April 2008. During this time, he oversaw hardware engineering and operations for the console maker and also served an integral role in hardware planning, including PS5 and PSVR.

Sony launched the PS5 in November 2020 across a number of major territories, and the console has shipped 21.7 million units worldwide. Despite this, supply issues still remain a thorn in consumers’ sides, as the PS5 is still difficult to get hold of.
